This page will list various ways to list, and find Trail Angels on the AT.
In June 2024, we hiked 330 miles of the Appalachian Trail to gain more knowledge of Trail Angel communication methods specific to the AT. Here are some general observations that may be helpful for hikers to find Trail Angels on the AT.
Overall – The AT is a bit older and more advanced in their evolution in their offerings for trail services for hikers than the PCT and newer thru hikes. For example, on the PCT there may be several towns where the only rides into towns are trail angels (volunteers) or just random locals. On the AT, many of the road crossings and towns connections have evolved to “shuttles” which are paid and often profit making ventures.

BUT – It should be noted that there are still many trail angels on the AT who are not official shuttle services or for profit companies who will offer rides for low or no cost while it may appear that the shuttle companies appear to be the only choices. We had no problems getting hitches into towns at crossings saving us pricey shuttle prices. We can recommend you try hitches or get names /numbers of trail angels often found in Far Out at road crossing or town. It should be noted that some of the shuttle services can be very expensive per miles and it is worth while to check even an Uber connection before getting a shuttle. These “shuttles” are often just a person with a car and not really a full van shuttle service.
The AT offers many more trail hostels than other trails offering a lower cost method to zero and resupply for individuals. There are still many trail angel hosting options but this trail doesn’t have the many Facebook Trail Angel groups arranged by town or region. We will add AT Facebook pages as we find them or provided to us on this page below. Please contact us at TrailAngelCentral@gmail.com if you know of Facebook groups to add here.

AT Trail Angel Central Spreadsheet Lists (New 2024)
This list is a google spreadsheet that contains tabbed sheets of angels and contact/offerings. This Google spreadsheet is created, updating and self managed by angels. Extreme care must be taken to avoid deleting other angels entries in this spreadsheet.
We encourage you to share AT Trail Angel Central Google lists of angels pages with your friends and other hiker groups. We have created a webpage with some text to easily copy and paste into Facebook or other emails to help spread the word about this valuable resource.
Click HERE for information on how to share the Trail Angel Central – Angels Lists with your friends and hiker groups.
Click on the link below to add /edit/delete your angel posting for any other sections. Feel free to add new tabbed sheets as needed if you do not find a close fit of town or road crossing.
These Trail Angel Central Google lists are meant to be a useful resource lists for hikers. We understand that there is a sliding scale of angels and their expected donations or fees to help fund their angel efforts. At Trail Angel Central we mainly want to all angels and even businesses to list and just be clear about any expected donations or fees they want. We can let hikers make decisions about selections of offerings and how they define an angel. In you Google listing, if you expect a fee or donation, please list that under the notes column.
Tighter editing controls might be added to the spreadsheet in the future and this single spreadsheet approach is a work in progress.
Note: To post a new angel entry you must be on a laptop/desk browser or download the Google Sheets application on your phone.
Steps to posting:
Open up the Google Spreadsheet page
Find your closest town/road crossing tab at the bottom. They are arranged by Mileage starting from southern part of the AT to the Northern end.
Add your angel information (contact, offering, location, availability, etc)
