The Appalachian Trail is mostly maintained by volunteers organized by the various hiking clubs that aligned with a particular trail segment.
In 2024, hurricane Helene completely changed the AT trail for 100-200 miles with never seen damage before storm damage in it’s 100 year history.
Luckily, the nimble and efficient trail clubs got together and cleared the AT for the class of 2025.
A fair amount of trail issues will continue to exist as more trees continue to fall across the trail or other trail tread issues persist.
Below is a list of various trail section and how to self report trail issues.
We will be adding more sections and information as it becomes available.
Spivey Gap to Damascus
For this section, please take a picture of the blowdown or trail issue and take a screen shot of the Farout GPS screen shot and and send them both in an email to ATVolunteer@tehcc.org.
